Welcome to Arris Design, Inc. We have been providing architectural design services to individuals, organizations and corporations in Rhode Island and surrounding area for over 25 years.
Heading
our firm are its three principals: Robert Ornstein, President; Alfred Oakes,
Vice-President; and Scott Weymouth, Vice President. All principals are involved in every step of a project, from beginning to end. Our support staff is fully involved in the project team. The office
carries registrations in 17 states including Rhode Island,
Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Robert Ornstein Principal President
Bachelor of Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design, 1968.
Robert Ornstein has over 40 years of experience in all phases of Architecture. He has served as a project designer and project architect for such firms as Amman & Whitney, New York; Brand & Moore, New York; Hellman Kempton Sigl, Falmouth, MA; and Lyman Goff, Mystic, CT. He also served as Staff Architect for the Mystic Seaport Museum, Mystic, CT.
Robert currently sits on the Richmond Planning & Zoning Board and the Richmond Building Officials Board of Review.
Robert is NCARB certified.
Alfred W. Oakes Principal Vice President
Bachelor of Architecture from the Roger Williams College, 1975.
Alfred Oakes has over 30 years of experience in all phases of Architecture. Over the years Al has gained extensive knowledge in masonry restoration, architecture, and construction. He is considered an expert in diagnosing both immediate and long-term problems in existing structures and is considered an exhaustive resource in building materials and methods. He specializes in architectural services for religious institutions.
Al is a member of the Worship for Environment Committee for the Diocese of Providence and a member of the National Organization of Art and the Environment.
Scott Weymouth Principal Vice President
Bachelor of Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design, 1979. Bachelor of Fine Art from the Rhode Island School of Design, 1978.
Scott Weymouth has over 25 years of experience in all phases of Architecture. He has a keen knowledge of construction materials and methods, which enable him to develop a design, which meets the needs of the client while streamlining the logistics to meet the limits of the budget. His work includes integrating new additions into existing structures while maintaining the fabric and context of the existing building.
Scott is NCARB Certified and a member of the Providence Historical Society.
Our Team
Amanda Gearey, LEED AP Project Designer
Master of Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design, 2007 Bachelor of Art in Studio Art from Saint Mary's College of Maryland, 2003.
As an Intern Architect, Amanda Gearey is responsible for designing and
drafting a variety of projects in the New England region; including
commercial, educational, and ecclesiastical projects. She has also some
proposal work, computer modeling, graphic design and field work for the
office. She is artistic with strong design capabilities and is
meticulous with the detail in her work. She has excellent graphic and
CAD skills.
She is currently working on becoming NCARB Certified as well as preparing for the Architect Registration Exam.
